My Vegetable Garden
Woman cannot live on beans alone, as wonderful as they are. So that’s why I have a vegetable garden.
It’s a little hobby of mine. I’ve had a vegetable garden for 6 years now. Every year I’ll try something new, but mostly I stick to the tried and true. Pesticides and herbicides? No thank you, not in my garden. Manure and hand weeding.
It’s a family affair. My husband tilled the garden. My daughter helped plant. My mother is a gardener extraordinaire so she helps me with everything. Thank you all. I’ll try not to screw it up this year!
Would you like to take a vegetable garden tour?
A nice variety of herbs. Rosemary, Cilantro, Italian Parlsey, Chives, Oregano. Not pictured: Basil.
Watermelon seedling. This one’s new to us.
A garden variety: 4 kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet Italian pepper, red bell pepper. Not pictured: Green beans and corn (doubtful about the corn).
Raspberry bushes look ready to pop. And that’s my mom in the background. Not pictured: strawberries in a basket. I’m doubtful about strawberries. But one must have hope.
Do you have a garden? What do you like to grow?

Your garden sounds like mine!! We have (at last count that is) 7 types of tomatoes (4 are heirlooms!), 4 kinds of peppers (including habanero!), groundcherries, romano beans, watermelon radishes, purple carrots, chioggia beets, cucumbers, zucchini, Jerusalem artichokes, rhubarb, raspberries, strawberries, dill, garlic, thyme, lavender, horseradish and an Egyptian onion. I have NO idea what we’re going to do with it all when it’s ready!
I can’t wait to see what you do with yours!
Hi Sarah – Wow, what a fantastic sounding garden you have. I’m looking forward to seeing what you make! I was just about to say you must now be reaping in the rhubarb, then lo and behold I look at your site and see all of these amazing rhubarb recipes!
