The Danes have done a very good job keeping these delicious little treats a secret! I also think that glogg would be wondeful when drank when anything!
Danish-Americans make aebleskiver any time of the year, and as noted above there has been a lot of innovating of aebleskiver. Taking inspiration from Asian dishes similar to aebleskiver, I'm really fascinated and obsessed with savory aebleskiver! So delish! That being said, I always have my last aebleskiver with a little jam! So maybe I haven't really strayed that far!
Hope to see you all on the call tomorrow night! Thanks for adding to the discussion, this is great!

Hi Kathy - thank you for commenting about the traditional Dane way of cooking with Aebleskiver. Sounds delicious.

You never know - maybe Aebleskiver is on the verge of transcending culture? See here from Tiny Urban Kitchen:
Æbleskivers and Takoyaki? Chinese egg cakes?:

Being Danish, I think it is SO funny to see Æbleskiver on a US website :-)

I think you should cook æbleskiver the way you want, but just for the record, a Dane would NEVER make a savoury type æbleskive. Ususally, it is baked with no filling and served with icing sugar and strawberry preserve. Drink coffee or glögg (warm wine with spices) with it, and you have a traditional "meal" served during the month of December in Denmark.

Enjoy!
